Our focus
This site helps people find and plan campsites in Colorado and camp responsibly once they get there. We cover developed campgrounds in national parks, national forests and state parks; free dispersed camping on national forest and BLM land; reservations and permits through Recreation.gov and Colorado Parks and Wildlife; fire restrictions; Leave No Trace; seasons; and safety in the mountains and the desert.
Colorado Camping Spots is not a government website. We are not affiliated with Colorado Parks and Wildlife, Recreation.gov, the U.S. Forest Service, the Bureau of Land Management or the National Park Service, and we cannot make or change reservations for you.
The publisher
The site is owned and operated by Eye To Ad Media, a Denver company run by Zach Wennstedt that publishes a small group of independent Colorado guides, including guides to things to do in Denver and to Colorado events. Each guide is focused on a single topic and edited on its own.
Where our information comes from
Camping rules come from the agencies that manage the land, so those agencies are our primary sources: the National Park Service, the U.S. Forest Service, the Bureau of Land Management, Colorado Parks and Wildlife, the Colorado Division of Fire Prevention and Control and the National Weather Service. We link to the specific page behind each rule so you can confirm it. We do not invent fees or site counts; when a number changes often, we send you to the official listing instead. Our process is explained on the how we research page.
What you will not find here
- Made-up reviews, star ratings or testimonials.
- Claims that our team camped somewhere as a selling point.
- Paid rankings disguised as recommendations.
Advertising
To keep the guide free, pages may carry advertising, including Google AdSense ads. Ads are kept separate from our editorial content and advertisers do not influence what we write. Our privacy policy explains how ad cookies work and how to opt out of personalized ads.
Help us stay accurate
Campgrounds close for repairs, fire orders change and booking windows move. If you notice something out of date, please let us know. We check reported changes against the managing agency and update the page.
Please also read our terms and safety disclaimer before relying on any page for a trip.
